The Incorporation of South Walton: Is Now The Time?
On Thursday, February 26, South Walton Community Council will present Lynn Tipton, director of membership for Florida League of Cities, to speak and help answer questions about the possibility of incorporating South Walton as a city.
As residents grow increasingly concerned with proper land use and growth management issues (as well as the effective enforcement of current regulations), the prospect of incorporating South Walton has risen again. The goal of these concerned citizens is to have more fiscal control over local tax dollars and more representation in the local decision-making process.
Two informational sessions will be held at the The REP in Seaside. One session will begin at 4 p.m. and a second session will be held at 7 p.m.
The sessions will help answer questions, such as:
— What does incorporation mean?
— What are the pros and cons?
— What areas can incorporate?
— What is the process?
— How long does it take?
— What about taxes?
— And more questions raised by attendees
