Are You Redd-y for the ‘Redd Hott Burger Challenge’?
Redd’s Fueling Station, featuring Redd, The Singing Bartender, is already a unique attraction on Scenic Highway 30A. Now there is another twist — The Redd Hott Burger Challenge!
The Redd Hott Burger Challenge will kick off Saturday, October 25th at 5:30 pm when a group of three special invitees will battle it out for the honor of winning the food challenge. Contestants hope to finish off five of Redd’s delicious cream cheese-stuffed Jalapeño Popper Burgers, topped with pepper jack cheese, jalapeno and habanero peppers, tomato, lettuce, pickled onions and three English muffins,1 pound of sweet potato fries and two pints of Rolling Rock draft beers or soft drinks.
All must be consumed within 30 minutes. During that time, Redd will sing a selection of songs to encourage and sometimes disrupt the concentration of the competitors. Songs such as Linda Ronstadt’s You’re No Good and Hurt So Bad, Queen’s We Are The Champions and Abba’s Winner Takes it All, to name a few, will involve audience participation.
“I hope our guests enjoy this delicious, fun contest and it’s a way to give back to the community,” said Redd Vizard, owner and bartender at Redd’s Fueling Station. “It is going to be fun to sing while the challenge is attempted. A Redd Hott Challenge for sure, but also a worthy cause.”
Failure to meet the challenge will result in a $28.99 tab, but any winners will get their dinner for free, receive a special t-shirt and have their photo taken for the wall of fame. As an added incentive to try the challenge, for each winner, Redd’s Fueling Station will make a donation to the local Sacred Heart Hospital’s cancer unit.
Later, Benjamin Butler will take the stage at 7:30. He is visiting the area and has been performing at Highland House, Grayt Grounds and others.
Redd, The Singing Bartender, opened Redd’s Fueling Station in June 2013. Redd “sings and slings” drinks and food, performing cover songs requested by the diners. The venue also features local and visiting entertainment on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
