30A Q&A: Locals Tell Their Favorite Five Things

1. What makes living at the beach so special?
I love how supportive the area is to connecting people with common interests, especially artists. For the vast majority of us that live here full time, we have all been the “new person” here at some point. It really makes for a great community even after being here for 12 years.
2. Three favorite local spots?
Eden Gardens has always been a refuge for our family. It is a second home to us.
Grayton Beach is a must for us, as well. I love the fact that we have met and keep up with people from around the Southeast (mainly) because we happened to park and land a beach chair next to them on a beautiful day.
The Point Washington State Forest trails. As a whole, our family packs in some miles through there hiking with our dogs, Dan & Bob.
3. Best place for a night out?
For a fancy night out, Restaurant Paradis. I may still show up in in blue jeans though.
4. Most delicious menu item?
If I had to choose a last meal it would be Grits A Ya Ya from Great Southern.
5. What do you do in your free time?
I love to start my day (after delivering children to school) with exercise – be that a walk with a friend, playing tennis or going to Laura Bailey’s yoga class.
