30A Locals Take Home Waterskiing Gold at Pan Am Games

Two Santa Rosa Beach residents took home gold medals in water skiing at the Pan American games late last month.

Adam Pickos, 23, and Regina Jaquess, 31, won gold medals in men’s trick skiing and women’s jump, respectively.

Adam Pickos, who also works at the Red Bar, poses with his gold medal after the 2015 Pan Am Games.

Both trained at the internationally renowned Pickos Water Ski and Wakeboard School, tucked away right in the middle of Santa Rosa Beach.

It’s been an advantage for Adam, whose gold-medalist father, Cory Pickos, has been teaching him the tricks of the trade since he was three years old.

The school draws the best skiers from all over the world, as well as provides lessons for people of all ages and skill levels.

On a recent weekday, members of the Czech Republic water ski team took turns behind the boat.
