Eagle Scouts Help Improve Alaqua’s ‘Unleashed’ Dog Park

Eagle Project 096

Alaqua Animal Refuge recently received 5 new wooden benches, constructed and donated by Boy Scout Troop 562. The benches were created as a community project and will enhance the environment at Alaqua’s Unleashed Dog Park.

“We are so grateful that Troop 562 chose Alaqua’s Unleashed Dog Park as the recipient of these beautiful wooden benches,” said Laurie Hood, Alaqua Owner and Founder. “They will be a beautiful addition to the park.”

Located in South Walton on J.D. Miller Road, Alaqua Unleashed offers a perfect place for dogs to run, play and enjoy some fun in the Florida sun year round. The park, which opened in the spring of 2011, currently offers agility and obedience training classes. Future plans include a landscaped and sheltered seating area, sections for large, small and senior/handicapped dogs, restrooms, a hiking area and a water feature. Long-term plans also call for the park to include a concert area and more for community events in the future.

Alaqua Unleashed is supported through memberships, sponsorships and donations. To become a sponsor, visit www.alaquaanimalrefuge.com or call (850) 880-6399.
